Common Questions
Answers to the questions I'm most often asked about my work, process, and availability.
I specialise in complex, system-level UX challenges — operational dashboards, booking engines, large-scale website transformations, and self-service platforms. I work best in enterprise or scale-up environments where I can influence strategy as well as execute designs, not just be handed a brief.
My deepest experience is in aviation (Manchester Airports Group), hospitality (Warner Leisure Hotels, Jet2holidays), and e-commerce. I'm comfortable in any domain that requires translating complex systems into usable interfaces — the underlying process doesn't change much between industries.
Yes — I'm open to discussions about permanent Principal / Lead UX roles and select contract engagements. The best way to start a conversation is via the contact page.
I follow a Discover → Define → Design → Test → Iterate loop, adapting the rigour to the project's constraints. I always start with research — user interviews, analytics, or competitor analysis — before putting anything on a canvas. The process is a framework, not a rigid script.
Figma is my primary design and prototyping tool. For research I use Hotjar, Qualtrics, and standard analytics platforms. I can also write HTML, CSS, and SCSS — which makes collaboration with development teams significantly smoother.
I'm flexible — I've worked effectively both fully remote and in hybrid arrangements. I'm based in Leeds and work with clients across the UK. If a role requires regular on-site presence, let's discuss what that looks like before we go further.
